The last day for Mail Delivery is Tuesday, May 11. Make sure you are updating your address to ensure your mail arrives to you. Those who need to stay longer will need to e-mail their Residence Director by May 5th. The buildings will be closed for summer starting May 15th at 6pm. Command Strips. If you have command stripes, do not take them down. Leave them on the walls. DHRL will remove them for you. Trash found in the Hall. Trash found in the hallways, lobbies, and outside the building will result in checkouts being stopped. Take all trash to the dumpster. I N F O R M A T I O N RHA Food Drive. The Residence Hall Association will provide every hall with a donation bin for non-perishable food that will be donated to the Hays County Foodbank. Have a fish you do not want? Fish should not be flushed or released into the river but taken to the San Marcos Discovery Center. I N F O R M A T I O N 1 2 3 4 5 Forwarding Address in Starrez. Update your forwarding address in Starrez in case mail arrives for you over the summer or next fall. 430 Riverside Drive, San Marcos, TX 78666 No equipment will be provided or checked out. It will be up to residents to provide their own moving equipment. Similar to move in this year, the Department of Housing will be implementing the following guidelines to ensure the safety of Residents, their guests, and staff. COVID19'S IMPACT COVID19'S IMPACT Residents are allowed two additional guests to help them move out. However, no children under the age of 16 will be permitted within the halls. When checking the room, Residents will be asked by the RA to stand outside the room to ensure social distancing. All residents and guests will be required to wear a face covering and to socially distance while in the hall. Failure to do so may result in being removed from the hall * * * * * * * Begin to take things you won't need or use home now. * Pack over time instead of waiting to the last minute (an hour a day) Use this time to purge any items and clothes you no longer need or want. Color code or label your boxes to stay organized Move out, Finals, and work can make this time of year super busy. Creating a schedule can help you stay on top of everything Watch and look up packing tricks to maximize your space Create a moving day bag for items you will need the day of moving out P L A N & S I G N U P Now is the time to plan when you are leaving and scheduling this with people who are assisting you! Don't wait till the last minute! You will need to check out of your room with an RA and can sign up for a date via bookings. The time you sign up for should be when you will have everything moved out and have cleaned your space. AKA you're ready to turn in keys and go. Checkouts will be scheduled between the hours of 10:30am and 9:30 pm. There are no exceptions. You will need to sign up at least 24 hours in advance at the front desk of your hall. All slots will be available on a first come first serve basis! P L A N & S I G N U P * * * * THE STEPS FOR MOVING OUT Now that you have scheduled a check out time, here's all the things to do before checking out * * Remove all your belongings from the building. * Clean your room! this means take out trash, sweep, wipe surfaces! Take all trash to the dumpster. de-loft your bed to the lowest setting Restore room furniture to original room set up Lower and close the blinds. Do a double take to ensure you have everything. THE STEPS FOR MOVING OUT . PUT YOUR ROOM BACK! Make sure your room goes back into it's original set up! un-loft your bed! Unstack your dressers! it should look like this IT'S TIME TO CHECK OUT Once done, turn in the envelope to the front desk, sign remaining paperwork, and you are checked out! Have a great summer! IT'S TIME TO CHECK OUT On the way back, check your mailbox and the desk or mailroom to ensure you don't have any packages that need to be picked up. Report to the front desk at the date and time you signed up for. Do not be late. There will be a five minute grace period. An RA will go with you to your room and check that everything is clean and you didn't leave anything behind. The RA will give you an envelope. Place your keys in the envelope, seal it, and then fill it out with your information. 1 2 3 4 5 Here is how the check out process will work! Make sure you're ready and know what to expect! WHAT IF I MISS MY CHECKOUT TIME? Don't panic if you miss your check out time! If you're late to your check out time you will either be asked to sign up for a new time or may be told to wait until an RA is available to check you out. All residents are expected to sign up for a time to check out. If a resident does not sign up but shows up to the desk to be checked out, the resident will be directed to the sign up sheet. They may also be waitlisted until an RA is available to check them out. WHAT IF I DO NOT SIGN UP? REMINDERSREMINDERS Move out by May 13th. Finals end May 12th. Every resident should be moved out by May 13th unless they received an extension by their Residence Director. RAs are students too! They are taking finals, graduating, and working to get everyone checked out. Please be understanding if we can not accommodate you because of lack of planning on your part. Improper Check Outs. There is a $150 improper checkout fee for students who do not check out with an RA. Keys must be turned in at Check Out. You cannot mail in keys. Any keys not turned in at time of check out will be considered lost and charged to be replaced. No exceptions. 1 2 3 4
